Inspired by Ma’amoul — a traditional Middle Eastern shortbread pastry filled with dates and nuts — our Syrian Date & Walnut ice cream celebrates both flavor and unity. Ma’amoul is shared across faiths and holidays — from Eid and Easter to Rosh Hashanah and Hanukkah — a timeless reminder that joy and togetherness transcend borders.
We were inspired not only by the rich, comforting taste of this beloved dessert but also by the great American tradition of welcoming flavors from around the world into our own kitchens. Food shared across a table has the power to connect us — reminding us that, despite our differences, there is far more that unites us than divides us.
Through this flavor, we also hope to honor the resilience of Syrian families seeking safety and a better future — families not so different from the generations before them who came to our shores in search of hope, community, and a new beginning.
The label for this flavor was designed to shine light on the struggles of those displaced by war and to serve as a reminder of our shared humanity. Adirondack Creamery donated 50% of profits from this flavor to organizations such as the International Rescue Committee and CanDoAction totalling over $30K
