Adirondack Park

The Adirondack Park encompasses over six million acres, covers 20% of New York State and is larger than Vermont. It is the largest park and state protected area in the contiguous United States. This land area is greater than that of Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Glacier, and Great Smoky Mountains National Parks combined. Forty-five percent of the Park is public property and protected as “Forever Wild” under the NYS constitution.

More important than its size is the great natural beauty of the park, which ranges from gentle hills, wetlands, streams and ponds to the 46 High Peaks, which are all higher than 4,000 feet. The Adirondacks also includes the headwaters of the Hudson River and is home to Lake George also known as Queen of the American Lakes.

Activities in the park are almost as numerous as its number of acres. From high intensity hiking, skiing and kayaking to leisure boat trips, fishing, camping or simply driving to view fall foliage there is truly something for everyone to enjoy.

Adirondack Creamery was founded at Silver Bay on the shores of Northern Lake George and continues to produce ice cream in the Adirondacks.  We remain an active supporter of organizations working to preserve the park for future generations and encourage our customers to learn more about them:
